9 Tips for a Winning Scholarship Application

By Cindy Sanford

If your application is incomplete or not detailed enough, it may not be considered for the scholarship. It’s important to spend a little time on it. Here are some tips:

  1. Follow directions
  2. Be honest
  3. Highlight your strengths, passions and successes
  4. Read through the entire application before writing answers
  5. Respond to each question with a complete answer
  6. Practice writing your essay, if one is requested, and be sure to review and modify it as needed before putting it on your final application
  7. Ask a family member, teacher or counselor to review your application for errors
  8. Make sure to return all information by the deadline
  9. Keep a copy of your application

Your application should reflect who you are. Remember that the more scholarships you apply for, the greater your chances are of receiving one…or more!
